I used to come here for a few different things, but recently wasn't treated very nicely after asking for information about an instrument.
I cant rate this place highly enough. Having moved to the area recently I have found both Mary Lou and Alistair to be nothing but helpful. They managed to sort out music lessons to accommodate both of my children in their different choice of instrument. Their lessons are now at the same time which saves a lot of hanging about for me. I have purchased instruments for both of my children in store. I like the personal touch and I was extremely impressed at the knowledge passed over when buying. I bought a saxophone for my son. I found the price to be extremely competitive and I have felt some peace of mind knowing that if I have any problems I can just pop back in. My daughter required a violin. She is working towards grade 3 at the moment. I was impressed that when I was enquiring about purchasing a violin I was given a choice of instruments that wasnt going to break the bank. She now has an instrument that is perfect for her. The teachers within the music school are very good both in their musical abilities but also in the nature in which they converse with my children. (My son is known for being awkward from time to time) Im seeing both of my children flourish and both are now playing their instruments with ease. Would highly recommend Haydocks music.
Nice place and friendly but not a huge range of stock.
Probably one of the only places left to buy sheet music and get advice on instruments. I have bought several woodwind instruments from here and always found the store to be friendly and competitive on price, in fact their reed prices were the cheapest I could find anywhere in store. We also used to buy all our sheet music online via Amazon (they dont pay their taxes) but realised when adding on postage Haydocks was cheaper and you get it same day, so we now make the effort to drive up, plus we can get to see it before we buy it which makes a huge difference. Their knowledge of sheet music is brilliant.Fantastic music shop, great to have and always there to help , and as my gran used to say if we dont use it we will loose it so I would advise everyone to shop local and support the retailers where possible.
I have used to buy books and instruments for my son and in general they're fine, but I have two situations with them which upseted me regarding their prices, The first one regarding reeds which I bought from the store but when I compared the price with their online store, i found out that the prices online are cheaper so i backed to the store and got the price difference. The second one with level exam book, I called them to ask about the price they told me it will be between 7 or 8 pounds which is cheaper from online stores but when i went their they charged me about 14.5 which is really expensive so I have returned it, the issue the man in the store told me the book contains two parts so it is expensive from the prices gave me over the phone, but I found that all stores sell it as one part which contains piano notes. My advice is search online before shopping from them.
